Back in February, I received a call from Christy Emmanuel (editor), asking to meet with her and Mr. Landrum, founder of LandrumHR and author of a book that was in its finishing stages as a manuscript. They were looking for a designer to handle the creative direction and layout and wanted to discuss the process, paper options, book size, and such.
3SIXTY Marketing was hired for the project and in the months following, the teamwork evolved as we collaborated on, and started the creative process of the interior layout as well as cover designs. During that time I developed a deep respect for Mr. Landrum as I learned about his core values and ethics and the accomplishments of his company that laid the foundation for the book.
Fast forward. A few weeks ago, we put the final touches to the hardcover, paperback, and e-book versions of WORKING A BETTER WAY: A Fifty-Year History of LandrumHR, by H. Britt Landrum, Jr. As I am wrapping things up, I’m reflecting on the last four months. I feel privileged and honored to have been a part of this team and given the opportunity to assist Mr. Landrum in turning his vision for a book into reality as he shares the journey of LandrumHR.
I’m closing this chapter, taking with me something Mr. Landrum said many times while working on his story—“Think about what you’ve learned.”
WORKING A BETTER WAY is a memoir covering the 50-year history of LandrumHR, one of the longest-running and most successful mid-tier players in its industry.
